13And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.
14But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
15Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
16And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
Notice Jesus’ response to the disciples who rebuked the parents who brought children to touch Jesus. He was not just disappointed. Rather, Jesus was VERY DISPLEASED with his disciples who tried to stop the most accepting of Jesus from coming to him.
I encourage us all to pray through this passage this week and consider our role in VBS. How are we encouraging the children to touch Jesus? How can we avoid displeasing Jesus in this responsibility?
