“We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired word of God and the basis for our beliefs. This church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of “the Baptist Faith and Message” as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention June 14, 2000. We voluntarily band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are believers baptism and the Lord’s Supper.”
This is the Statement of Faith for Clintwood Baptist Church as printed in the church constitution dated October 21, 2009. It is appropriate for churches to declare statements of faith from time to time. As a Southern Baptist congregation, we affirm the confession of faith of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Baptist Faith and Message. The latest statement revised in 2000. These doctrinal views are based on scripture and are an aid to interpreting Scripture and are not intended to replace the authority of Scripture.
One of the passions I have as your pastor is to help all members of Clintwood Baptist Church understand God’s Word and to embrace it as truth. I wish to help alleviate all uncertainties and solidify positions among our church body toward the truth of Scripture and our role as Southern Baptists. A simple, loyal, dedicated understanding of what God says as truth will change people, our church, and our community.
We are not an ecumenical congregation that follows various positions of the Christian faith. We are Southern Baptists.
In order to truly agree together as a congregation, I feel it important to review our confession of faith as a church body and a denomination. The sermons I will preach for the remaining 2011 schedule will be centered on Scriptural truth that we as Southern Baptists believe together. Along the way I will compare our understanding of key issues of the faith with other Christian and non-Christian beliefs. I pray that this time together on Sunday morning will benefit you and your family as members of Clintwood Baptist Church.
We are a strong family of believers and I wish to strengthen that bond with clear teaching from Scripture about what we as Southern Baptist hold as truth.
Please join with me in prayer for clear understanding and teaching. Please join us on Sunday mornings as we grow stronger in our commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.
